If you regularly follow Ashar and me, you’ve already noticed that we’ve been away for a while, like for 2 weeks, if I’m not wrong. Believe me or not, we’ve remembered posting every single day and missed writing as well. Still, the situation isn’t always the same.

They say every day is new, so here I am back writing on my desktop with my mind’s ideas. To communicate with you and share what my husband and I were up to!

Today was one of the lazy days that I’d prefer not to have around in the future. You know those days when nothing feels good, the brain is in a sleeping mode, and all our body wants is to stretch on the bed for the whole day. But this is the rare day. In the end, I cooked yummy dinner and writing as one of the kids is calmly snoring while the other just jumping around.

Not all days are the same in life, right? We had today, but we had SATURDAY as well that I ADORE entirely! You’re thinking, what was so special? Well, if you read the title, I’m telling you about my birthday celebration in this post. YAYY!!

This happened last Saturday though my birthday was on Sunday. All the credit goes to my adorable husband. Our original plan was to celebrate on Sunday, but our Sunday was a mess. In some other post, I’ll tell you what actually happened to us on Sunday that the celebration did not go as planned.

My birthday celebration was not extravagant in terms of spending money. We invited no one on my birthday. Instead, we celebrated at home, just at 12 AM on Saturday night to Sunday morning. Just me, hubby and our son blowing candles (that we already had from before) and a home-made cake that I originally made for my son. My husband did not buy me anything but care and time. Though there was something more that I wasn’t aware of on the Saturday afternoon. Don’t worry, you’ll get to know soon; just keep reading.

A week before, my husband asked me, ‘What would you like for your birthday?’ And I’m like, ‘Nothing much, just some fine dine out.’ Obviously, I wasn’t interested in cooking the same food at home. Yes, I love cooking, and my original plan was to bake a Chicken Lasagne at home, but soon I realized that my husband and I must avoid Cheese and Fat for now.

Coming back to the gift, so he asked me to tell him something other than the food, and I go, ‘The only thing I adore is to eat out. Yes, I’m a foody’. I told him to take me to THAILAND.

What? No, don’t get me wrong! I asked him to go to ‘Thailand Restaurant,’ a unique Thai restaurant in our suburb, not overseas!

My hubby noted my request and said, ‘means I have to get something for you I won’t tell you.’ And I go, ‘But I really don’t want anything. I always get the pocket money from you and spends with my wish; why would I bother asking you something special?’. But he’s a good man. He kept what he wanted to surprise me within his mind.

On Saturday, he asked me to go somewhere I was unaware of. He lied that he needs to buy himself shoes. I’m like, ‘but why I’m going, mate!’ He did not answer. I ran up and got ready instantly. I’ve never been that prompt before!

We finally arrived at the Mall, and I asked him at the entrance, ‘Where are we going? The Adidas Store is on the right, not straight’. And he asked me to keep moving. I was quite familiar with the Shopping Centre, so I started getting a vibe of what was going on. Guess what? He was taking me to the HAIR SALON!

YAY YAY! I was waiting for the moment he reveals because I was extraordinarily happy within, but I wanted to be sure. And my guess was RIGHT!

Do you get enough time for self-care? Especially if you’re a Mom, and you take care of the family. Is it hard, right? Due to the COVID-19, I did not have hair color and trimmed done for the past 6 months from the Salon. Though I was dying my hair and trimmed at home every 2 months. But it doesn’t give as finished look as it does with a Salon Dye. So, I had foils plus hairstyling and blew dry. The whole process was so relaxing!

Gifts from the Family

For me, it does not matter how much he spent on my hair foils or whether or not he bought me a designer dress and a branded jewelery. Being his life partner, I’m most proud that he clearly understands my needs without telling him. He knew what I was planning to do for long, and he simply surprised me. This was a sweet little gesture that I could not thank him enough. But this wasn’t the only one; we still had a dine out at my favorite restaurant the next day!

Today marked as one of the extraordinary days of my life when I can’t get enough of God’s blessings upon us. It’s not about wealth, nor is the fame. It’s not even about accomplishing targets. I don’t want to keep you overthinking or riddling, but before I tell you why I’m overjoyed, I want to tell you the background first.

So…for our Urdu/Hindi YouTube Channel, we had this in mind from way before, to throw some videos around MultiCulturalism in Australia, since our channel is mostly about the Australian lifestyle, Visas, Immigration and Travel. We were excited to start with a strong community because our subscribers and viewers may have high expectations surrounding our content. We have multiple friends from different backgrounds and corners of the world here in Sydney, the largest city in Australia. And large communities are based here for a long time. A few of those communities are Punjabis, Sikhs, Nepalese, Bangladeshi, Indians, and don’t forget, our Pakistanis

First thing first, we contacted a little over 3-4 people from different backgrounds and asked to participate in our video. The aim was to include people from diverse backgrounds and record their reaction to Pakistani food, opinions, and experiences in Australia.

That sounds like fun, Isn’t it? The plan was to record the video on a single day and throw it on the channel in parts. By this point, both my husband and I couldn’t wait for my friends to respond. 

Now, it’s already been three days, and by far, no one responded. I was nervous about whether my husband and I are fortunate enough to achieve what we want. Inevitably, people loved our idea, but the only main issue is how much a person is comfortable being a part of a YouTube Video. 

I’m quite a camera-shy. Means whenever I’m supposed to talk in front of the camera, I tend to mix up my ideas, get confused, and above all, I get anxiety. I call this behavior as ‘Camera Anxiety’ in my words. My husband is lucky not to have this problem at all. I’m insecure with how comfortable he’s on the camera often lol.

Anyhow, I’m learning as the day goes, to overcome my fear of the camera, and I hope that one day, I’ll defeat my anxiety and become more confident, enthusiastic, and entertaining in a video. 

Coming back to the participants, I can completely understand their concerns. YouTube, being a public and free platform where millions of videos are watched every single day! We believe that it requires just one video for a creator to achieve not million then thousands of subscribers and viewers, but for that, they might have to keep posting videos consistently. I’ll come to that some other day when I’ll talk about How to Grow YouTube Channel in a different post.

What if one of our community videos go viral? What if they bring endless views to our video. So, the consent of participants is a must.

After five days since contacting friends, I got one confirmation. And that was from a NEPALESE friend!!

Yass!! The first community video is going to be along with my beautiful and honest Nepalese friend, Unisha. Both my husband and I were on Cloud nine. We were excited about the recording day, and we began planning our activities, challenges, and games for the video.

As of now, we’ve recorded the video, and we’ll publish once we finish the editing.

My whole point of telling you this story is not to promote our YouTube Channel, nor to tell you how our day went, but to inspire you with the power of exploration. Today when we shot our video, both me and the hubby were extremely glad to learn a new culture, a different country, and the different personality traits of people with diverse backgrounds. My Nepalese friend told us quite a lot about Nepal, the people, and its Culture, and she shared her experience as a Nepalese Student in Australia.

Since the outlook, we looked forward to gain immense knowledge about Nepal by exploring our friend’s thoughts about Australia.

Both of us also realized how important is the diversity of our society as a whole. Learning about different backgrounds provides a great deal of flexibility and support for each other! Exploring various backgrounds opens our minds, expands our thoughts, and creates a flexibility towards our actions and beliefs. Learning a new language to creating a strong bond with our fellow countrymen is fascinating in so many ways!

I hope that my Nepalese friend learned quite a lot about Pakistani Culture. My husband and I are quite confident that the whole Pakistani and Nepalese community will be entertained after watching our video.

How do you start your day? I’m specifically asking about the first food you eat or drink in the morning. There are many options: A Glass of Water, a Coffee, a cup of Green Tea, an orange juice, or maybe a fresh fruit or an energy drink. Some of you prefer not to have anything at all until lunchtime!

But I have no choice other than having a full hot Mug of White Tea, the first thing in the morning. You know, Caffeine! According to, the consumption of Caffeine is so widespread that 85% of the total population in the US drink at least one caffeinated beverage per day. It’s the world’s most consumed beverage. But why do people need Caffeine every day? Because this ‘pick-me-up’ beverage does wonders when it comes to coping with your tight routine and keeping on toes throughout the day. Ok, so you have to work hard in life.

Back to what I was about to tell you: me and my husband’s BUSY routine. When I say busy, that doesn’t mean I’m Whiny; I love being on toes and having tasks hour by hour. That’s something I’d advocate forever. Even if I have nothing to do at all, I’ll still keep doing something in my mind! And this may happen to you as well often.

For example, when I lost my part-time job about four months ago due to the pandemic, I told myself, ‘Now what?’ Like seriously, I had the choice to find another job for myself, and I did apply for the vacancies even when there weren’t many available due to the Lockdown. But, my caring husband advised me to take a bit of rest since I continuously worked and studied for three years with bits of annual leaves during those years.

So I set myself to routine house chores, doing extra work such as cleaning the wardrobes and cupboards more often, and cooking and baking new meals regularly. But that wasn’t enough, so I began spending more time on Facebook groups, making new friends and joining groups that I wasn’t supposed to. I won’t go in detail; the bottom line was that I was riding a bike that was too fast too dangerous because this social media addiction is something! Whether it be Facebook, Instagram, or YouTube. And that’s for nothing in return!

Anyhow, my husband is experienced in keeping me off from this addiction. And likewise, I give him a bunch of respect by listening and understanding him. He asked me to begin something that I admire to do that I’ve been intending for a long time and still holding.

So what was the next thing that hit my mind? It was Blogging! I’ll talk in the later posts about how I started blogging, what the motivation was, and how to start a blog and earn it by working from home.


So I found out what was desired in my life: BLOGGING. I needed more positive and mentally easing thoughts. Something to soothe mind and soul. And writing tops the ladder. Blogging changed my perspective, my opinions and thoughts. It brought positivity in my life, and, above all, it keeps me so active throughout the day that I couldn’t think of anything negatively. Moreover, my husband took the already-busy schedule to a new level, and that was, that he started our YouTube Channel. Now that’s even more work! Thanks to Editing, Publishing, and Promoting. Recording is just the beginning.

Along with all of these, another significant work is studying full-time. Studies don’t trouble me often, though a couple of times triggered anxiety! (If I overload myself with too much study time). Let me know in the comments if that ever happened to you!



And if you’ve been following me ever since I blogged the first time, just as my talented WordPress friends Pooja G. and Nabeela do, you’ve known that I have two sweet kids. A two-year-old and a 7-year-old.

Every day my husband goes to the gym, exercises at home, and don’t forget, his full-time overnight job.



And most importantly, everything has to be done by Friday, which means we keep ourselves completely off from work on the Weekends to spend quality time with our kids and other family members.

But how do my husband and I manage all this throughout the week? Do we have some magic stick, or we hang a wonder locket on our neck? No, this all comes down to just one thing: SMART PLANNING, meaning planning ahead for the upcoming week.

Is it possible to keep ourselves consistent with the plan? Well, we all can try at least! I don’t say we stick to it. We’re quite flexible to the changes and unforeseen circumstances. It happens to everyone, of course. Just as this week, my elder son had a minor injury while playing basketball at school, so we had to postpone our planned recording for our YouTube Channel on Monday since we received the phone call from his school notifying us of the incident. Later that day, we planned the alternative day to shoot the recording, which was today.


At times, the kids want more time and attention from both of us, and other days it’s different. So, it’s impossible to stick to the plan ahead of the time. The only way we’re able to make those targets is to find an alternative time to complete the same task.

So make it your habit. If you want to get organized and you’re someone holding hectic schedules throughout the day with a ton of unfinished tasks, plan from now. Plan in your mind, and if you think you’ll mix up or forget, then get a pen and paper and stick it on the spot, you probably spend the most time at home. Complete your tasks in parts and create a variety of tasks rather than holding just one task for 8 hours! You’ll get too bored!

Do you know how to celebrate special occasions during the lockdown? Since March this year, everything has changed due to the pandemic. Our everyday life isn’t the same anymore. We’re now getting accustomed to so many new habits and changes that we’ve never thought of before, like I’m studying online from the past six months, though I’ve never had to experience this, and online learning was a taboo for me a while ago.

EID DAY 2020

One of those changes is the way we celebrate Eid (a major Muslim festival) this year. This weekend, we were very busy with the joyful activities of Eid-ul-Azha. However, we’ve been unable to visit many people’s homes since the government is raising restrictions again in New South Wales, after the sudden rise of virus cases in the State of Victoria.

But this is Eid, the day that occurs just once in a year, and we don’t want to miss a single opportunity in making a unique and memorable day. Everything is essential, from special Eid prayers and new dresses to flavorsome food and exchanging gifts.

Eid brings back a bunch of memories from childhood. I remember back in the days when I was a teenager, I used to visit every house on my street to get a glimpse of animals they’ve got to sacrifice. The brown goats were always my favorite (they are too innocent by face) and those attractive white cows with black polka dots all over their body and a large black mark around one of the eyes. Not only were the animals the exciting stuff, but the noise of children that used to echo everywhere in town when someone brings a cow from the farm into their home. Childhood is indeed the most joyful time of everyone’s life.

So we had Eid on Saturday, just two days ago. I was both excited and fearful. It’s exciting because it’s a celebration day and a day to sacrifice for the sake of God and protect our wealth from evil eyes. But fearful because we’re trying our best to keep social distancing, and Eid is all about meeting with the loved ones.

Anyhow its all about how we manage to do certain things and adapt to certain situations. So, my husband and I decided to invite only brother and sister on the Eid day rather than inviting many other friends (we missed them so much!).

Eid day is incomplete without having a luxurious feast, which is usually to serve a beef or mutton meal to the guests. I was more interested in frying a liver for my guests. Though I had to accept that I always messed this one up, I overcook this particular dish. Share me a recipe of the beef liver in the comments, please.

After discussing for long, my husband and I decided to make a meat Lentil soup (aka Beef Haleem), especially for the Eid. Beef Haleem takes about three to four hours before it gets ready for serving. I was a little freaked out with this one too, as I’ve never made a Beef Haleem in the past (though my husband is an expert). I gave it a try, and to my surprise, everyone loved the way it was cooked in just three hours! I could see my guests licking fingers and mentioning all the good things about Haleem. I felt so relieved, so calm. But my husband did look at it as well before serving, so it was a stress reliever at the same time.

Not only Beef Haleem, but I made another famous food as well. After all, Eid is our Cheat day! Meaning, we allowed ourselves to what whatever we like, and we crave for.


Anyway, we spent the rest of the day talking and making giggles and laughs all over. It was such a pleasant evening. The day ended with my friend’s WhatsApp call, telling me all the great activities she had throughout the day.

Life teaches a lesson everyday life is itself a great trainer. It trains us for many things that we’ve never considered learning before. As the human proceed to maturity, he trains himself in a certain way. It’s all about being able to and accepting to learn. So what I learned with trying out new meals on the Eid day is that we all have to face the fear at any stage. Coming out of a bubble is a tough work, not being able to come out of that bubble puts ourselves into more trouble anyway, because when the bubble bursts at some stage of life, we find ourselves helpless and alone. So start facing your fear from today. If you’re aware of your weakness, face it, and try to cope with it.

Sweet ‘n’ Sour Chicken Manchurian with Fried Brown Rice

So, it’s the weekend. You’ve already worked five days, and you’ve been putting your best efforts to maintain your fat intake and exercise. You’re bored of cooking the same curries and daals (lentils) daily. Why not try this delicious sweet ‘n’ sour, hot Chicken Manchurian with the flavourful Brown Rice.

The Dish:

I used to believe Chicken Manchurian as the traditional Chinese cuisine in the past, but since I learned cooking and understanding different cuisines, I began having doubts.

The spice we use in the Chicken Manchurian recipe makes it different from the authentic Chinese food. Chicken Manchurian is an Indo-Chinese cuisine and most popular for lunch/dinner time.

The Nutritions:

The recipe I’m sharing with you is full of nutrition and vegetables. Not only this recipe involves a negligible amount of oil and ghee, but also it will leave a flavor in your mouth even after you serve with the brown rice.

I prefer using Brown Rice over White Rice due to its nutritional benefits. A brown rice is a raw form of rice, basically, so it contains all the essential nutrients such as fiber, vitamins, and minerals, which the White Rice lacks due to its processing. According to Healthline, Brown rice is a whole grain, and the whole-grain foods are believed to reduce cholesterol and risk of stroke and other heart diseases.

The Choice of Meat

I’ve always used Chicken for cooking a Manchurian at home, though you have a choice of meat: Beef, Mutton, Prawn. If you’re cooking the Manchurian for the maximum health benefits, Chicken is the best and easiest option to choose from.

A Vegetarian Manchurian is also highly recommended. The Manchurian sauce and the whole cooking process are the same for both Chicken and Vegetable Manchurians, apart from the vegetable balls. So, without wasting any more time, let’s begin the recipe:

Chicken Manchurian with Fried Brown Rice

  • Servings: 3-4

The flavoursome Indo-Chinese Easy to make cuisine

Cuisine Type: Indo-Chinese
Course: Lunch/Dinner
Diet: Non-Vegeterian
Meat choice: Beef/Lamb/Prawn
Equipment: A Stir Fry Wok, A Fry Pan, A cooking pot for rice


    For Chicken Marinade
  • 1/2 kg Chicken Breast Fillet (small pieces)
  • 1 tsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Ketchup
  • 1 tsp Sweet Chilli Sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli Flakes
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese Salt (Ajinomoto)
  • 1/2 tsp Vinegar
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tbsp Cornflour
  • For Manchurian Sauce

  • 1/2 tsp of Olive Oil
  • 2 Garlic Cloves (finely chopped)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli Flakes
  • 1 tsp Black Pepper
  • 1/2 tsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tsp Vinegar
  • 1/2 tsp Sweet Chilli Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Tomato Ketchup sauce
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese Salt (Ajinomoto)
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar
  • 2 tbsp Cornflour
  • For Fried Brown Rice:

  • 1 1/2 cups Brown Rice
  • 1/2 tsp Olive Oil
  • 1/2 tsp ginger and garlic paste
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Salt to taste
  • 1/2 tsp Chinese Salt (Ajinomoto)
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 egg
  • Vegetables for Sauce:

  • 1 1/2 Medium size Capsicums (Diced)
  • 1 Onion (Large Dice)
  • Vegetables for Fried Rice
  • 1 chopped capsicum for Fried Rice
  • 1 cup Spring Onion
  • 1/2 can of Corns
  • 1 cup of Cabbage


  1. First, mix all the ingredients in chicken pieces and keep in the fridge for 10 minutes.
  2. Pan fry until evenly cooked.
  3. To prepare Manchurian Sauce

  4. In a stir fry Wok, add olive oil and chopped garlic and stir for 30 seconds.
  5. Add all ingredients for sauce (except Cornflour) into the stir fry wok and mix evenly.
  6. Add fried chicken into the sauce and mix 1/2 cup of water. Boil well.
  7. In a separate cup, mix cornflour and water well.
  8. Add liquid cornflour into the boiling sauce and stir well until it appears dense.
  9. Add capsicums and onions into the sauce and leave on low flame for 5 min.
  10. Garnish with spring onions.
  11. To prepare Brown Fried Rice

  12. In a pot, mix olive oil and ginger garlic paste for 1 min on low flame
  13. Add pre-boiled brown rice in the pot and mix well.
  14. Fry vegetables and scrambled eggs separately in a pan for 1 min on high flame and add them to the rice.
  15. Add ingredients for rice into the pot and mix well.
  16. Cover on low flame for 10-15 min.
  17. Serve hot.


  1. Leave marinated Chicken in the fridge for at least 30 minutes for the best crisp.
  2. Do not overcook chopped garlic or ginger garlic paste.
  3. Fry every vegetable in a separate pan.
  4. Absorb any moisture from the vegetables into the tissue to avoid sogginess.

I experienced dark patches on my face and body for many years, and I felt annoyed continuously of having one. My face used to look a few shades darker, unattractive, and by the time, I was losing confidence in my appearance. I wanted to feel suitable for myself, but later I discovered other skin problems as a result of Obesity. No matter what ointment I use, whatever home remedy I try, and what diet I start to eliminate dark patches on his neck and face, it appeared repeatedly.

What was causing Hyperpigmentation? How can I get rid of it? How long it takes to eliminate these annoying dark patches? The same questions are appearing in your mind too.

I knew that my wife loved me unconditionally, but I decided to make a difference for her. Before jumping on to what causes the discoloration, I’ll tell you why I’m discussing it on a weight loss blog, since it’s a dermatological issue, right? Many people often relate Hyperpigmentation to dermatological issues. But remember, the causes relate to specific health problems. Now let’s begin.


Hyperpigmentation is the dark-colored patches on the skin that appears to be small, or can be in larger areas. Though it can affect the whole body, the most common areas of black patches on your body could be the face, neck, armpits, and groin. It happens when the brown pigment (also called Melanin) forms deposits in our skin.


Though it’s usually a harmless condition, it affects your appearance, and some of its causes may need to be evaluated by the doctor. There are quite a few causes of skin discoloration, such as excessive sun exposure, hormonal disorders, and diabetes. But one of the causes that I want to discuss today is the Obesity.

Excess body weight places a real strain on almost all the body functions. And skin problem is just one of them. It posses a greater risk of skin cancer, melanoma, and psoriasis. Excess fat in the body encourages abnormal skin cells growth triggered by high blood insulin levels. Hence, leading to increased Melanin in a particular patch.


If you notice a darker, velvety line on the back of your neck, or under the breast, it may be Acanthosis Nigricans. One of the most common conditions of Obesity, it forms a wide line of darkness on the affected area that appears unpleasant to look. How to Select the Right Diet?

When I was Obese, I was in the same position as you’re in right now. I went on searching the whole Google to get the answers to my questions. Many people say Google has the answer to pretty much everything you look for, and as expected, I got overpopulated with the answers. Sadly that doesn’t always help since there are masses of weight loss plans out there. Some focuses on reducing appetite, restricting calories, and fats while the others make you starve for the regular food.

The whole search engine confused me even more, so I ran to my fitness instructor, who has always been helpful and readily available for my answers at the gym’s office. I bombarded a long list of questions on him: What do I eat, which diet I start? Keto, Mediterranean, The-Ultra-Low-Fat, The Atkins, etc. He answered me: The one free of preservatives and processed food.

Which Diet I Followed?

I researched a little more, and I finally got all my answers from the Healthline website. I chose a combination of two: Intermittent Fasting and The Paleo Diet.

Comparison of Various Diet Plans

Before I tell you what a Paleo Diet and Intermittent Fasting is and why these two were the most valuable for me, let’s get the facts straight first by comparing five popular diet plans you’ve heard. (I took the below data from the Healthline website).

1. The Vegan Diet

Veganism is one of the most popular ones that many people recommended me. It restricts all animal products for ethical, environmental or health reasons. 

Since I researched, I was quite impressed with this diet concerning its many health benefits. But, since I’m a Non-Veg by birth, the diet did not offer much flexibility, restricting me to completely change my food habits while the other diets weren’t.

2. Low-Carb Diet

This diet is a popular one too. It involves limiting carbohydrate intake per day and restrict food such as grains, legumes, fruits, and breads as per Mayo Clinic. The Ketogenic Diet (aka The Keto Diet) shares many similarities with the Low-Carb Diet and Atkins Diet.

Impressed by its significant health benefits for diseases like high cholesterol levels, blood sugar levels, and insulin levels, I followed this diet for about a month or so, but soon discontinued since I began feeling unwell and fatigued.

3. The Ultra-Low-Fat-Diet

The diet restricts fat consumption to less than 10% of daily calories. It’s mostly a plant-based diet and restricts the intake of animal products.

Since I was massively obese and wanted to get my figure back soon, the fact that significant weight loss can occur with this diet strikes me at first. The lack of variety and intake of many healthy foods did not let me stick to it for long.

4. The HCG Diet

The HCG Diet is an extreme diet where you can lose 1-2 pounds per day. It involves taking HCG supplements.

Yes, I was craving for an attractive body shape, yet I chose not to take any supplements to keep my weight loss natural just because I didn’t want my body to starve for too long.

5. The WW Diet

Formerly known as Weight Watchers, this diet is among the most popular diet plans. It restricts you from eating within your set daily target to reach ideal weight.

With its lack of flexibility to include junk foods at times, the other factor that I did not choose this diet was because of expensive subscriptions and the continuing expense of dietitians for a long time.

You’re now well aware of some well-known diet plans people follow regularly. Let’s consider the main facts about the Intermittent Fasting and The Paleo Diet.

Intermittent Fasting

This diet involves cycles between periods of eating and fasting. It’s currently among the most popular fitness trends and requires a simple change to your lifestyle: Eating pattern. All you have to do is to schedule your meal times and practice voluntary fasting between the intervals.

The research shows that the weight loss results are evident in those who periodically followed this diet, and that, of course, includes me.

Beneficial impacts on Health

Before I move on to why I was considerably impressed, let’s consider the many beneficial impacts of this diet on your health:

  • It requires absolutely no change in your regular meals and the types of food you eat. So, if you’re someone who loves to take fruits, green vegetables, and a variety of grains and meats, this diet is quite flexible and reaps your weight loss benefits.
  • It’s flexible in choosing fasting hours, whether it be a minimum of 8 hours or even 12-16 hours a day. You can select the best-suited time for fasting. Whether it be overnight when you sleep, or the daytime between breakfast and dinner.
  • Fasting has been a practice by the ancient hunter-gatherers. So, functioning without food has kind of evolved in human nature, and that’s why it way easier to adapt this diet in contrast to several other diets.
  • You don’t have to starve in hunger throughout the day, as you can intake liquids such as water, tea, and coffee while you’re fasting. All you should do is to avoid a meal.
  • If you practice fasting due to religious or spiritual reasons such as Islam and Christianity, this diet won’t affect your eating habits much.

How to Follow this Diet?

I’ve learned Three Methods of Intermittent Fasting on the Healthline website. You can view those methods here. But after consulting my GP, I made up my own Method, call it the 8/8/8 Method. Here’s how the Method works: Fast 16 hours every day in two intervals and eat 8 hours in between. After breakfast, I begin fasting until dinner, i.e., from 12 PM to 8 PM. Then, eating my regular meals and fasting back again from 4 AM until breakfast.

You can alter the time to whatever best suits you. My schedule may seem weird because I work overnight and rests throughout the morning.

Why pick the Intermittent Fasting?

To keep a healthy body weight and to further achieve my target weight, I practice Intermittent Fasting. One of the significant reasons is because it doesn’t require me to change the foods I eat regularly, preferably a simple lifestyle change of ‘when‘ should I eat was crucial for weight loss.

Eating healthy is simple, but maintaining it would be difficult for me since planning and cooking the healthy meals require significant time that I wasn’t ready for with my full-time job and two kids.

Just as many other diets, Intermittent Fasting should only be started after careful consideration of other underlying conditions. It’s always best to consult your doctor before starting on any sort of diet.

The Paleo Diet

I’ve been on the Intermittent fasting with the specific goal of shedding the additional body fat and practice a healthy lifestyle. Since I mentioned earlier that I followed two diets, the other diet is the Paleo Diet.

I initiated this diet with the pure intention to get myself free of acidity, heartburn, and indigestion I often used to experience when I was Obese. After some research, I found out that this diet is recommended for weight loss as well.

Let’s begin understanding the Paleo Diet first:

What is The Paleo Diet?

The Paleo Diet involves eating the same foods our ancestors and hunter-gatherers used to eat in ancient times. ‘Paleo’ means ‘old‘ or ‘ancient’; a diet plan includes eating lean meats, fish, fruits, and vegetables and excludes processed foods, grains, legumes, and dairy products (according to the Mayo Clinic).

An Interesting Concept

The primary concept of this diet is quite historic yet simple, based on the idea that the human body does not genetically support the modern diet that came from farming practices. Hence, this mismatch relates to the higher prevalence of obesity and other disorders and diseases in modern times.

The concept itself was quite interesting because I strongly believe in the evolving process of humans from ancient times to modern age and the way food is associated with it.

Since I’ve been experiencing heartburn, constipation, high cholesterol, and indigestion since teenage, I was desperate to find answers. For an unknown reason, the logic behind this diet plan strike my thoughts and rapidly incorporated in my mind.

The Diet

I began avoiding processed foods first, such as the canned Tomatoes, preserved bread, and canned Chickpea. I further stopped eating any food left in the fridge for the next day. Furthermore, I reduced the intake of grains and legumes, the Red lentils (one of my favorites), and Chickpea and kept only the home-made wholemeal Wheat Bread in my diet. I mostly ate home-cooked fresh food but kept my regular consumption of dairy products for evening tea and Yogurt. I stopped using any sort of refined sugar and sweeteners available in the market.

So, I should say that I followed a more modified version of the Paleo Diet without being rigorous on any of my diets. The most crucial factor is to reduce the intake of the specific foods rather than completing getting off them because grains and other legumes are among the best sources of fiber, which in turn is useful for constipation.

The Pleasing Part

This diet attracted me the most because it was modifiable to some degree, and it was quite easy to adapt to my regular meal intake since I ate skinless Chicken most of my life and included plenty of green vegetables in my diet.

I finally got rid of Acidity, Heartburn, and Indigestion after two months of consistently following this diet! And never caught again!

There are many diet plans available to you out there. Some of them can help you lose weight while others just offer the health benefits. When you think of a Diet plan to follow, remember first to clean your kitchen of unhealthy temptations and keep your exercises and daily activity as regular. Then research the various sorts of diets you may follow, considering your strong temptations, flexibility, and ease to keep it long-term.

If you follow any diet rigorously, you might be able to keep it short-term, but unfortunately, that won’t help much because you need to be consistent on any diet for a long time to maintain your weight.

Among many other diets, I’ve found it quite simple to follow The Intermittent Fasting and The Paleo Diet though the ball’s in your hand as to which one to choose for yourself. No diet is fit for everyone, so I hope you keep your health in mind and consult your doctor once before trying out a diet.

Pot Roast Beef Fillets with Onions and Mint

When it comes to eating a balanced and nutritious filled diet, the home-cooked food is what comes in my mind at first. The logic is pretty straight-forward: Because I have a full control on the quantity of each ingredient. And I love controlling (No matter if its the diet or my husband!)

And when the home-cooking strikes in your mind, remember a mouthful of this melting in the mouth Mughlai Recipe, the Pakistani-Style Roast Beef Fillets with Onions and Mint.

Traditionally called as ‘Pyaaz-Podeena Pasanday’. (I know it’s crazily heavy for a non-native to pronounce), this is one of my favorite summer dinner meals, not just because of its nutritional value and cooking time, but also because of its refreshing flavor, the coolness of mint and a pinch of sweetness of Onions.

Pasanday‘ means ‘Favourite‘ in Urdu, and refers to the prime cut of meat traditionally cut within.

A Fresh and Healthy Mughlai Recipe perfect for a Homely Dinner

Cuisine Type: Mughlai
Course: Dinner
Diet: Non-Vegeterian
Meat choice: Beef/Lamb
Equipment: A deep 26 cm pot


    For Boiling Beef
  • 1 kg Beef Fillets flattened into strips
  • 1 tsp of Olive Oil
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Chilli Flakes
  • 1 tsp Cumin Seeds (Zeera)
  • 1/2 tsp Cumin Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Coriander Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Haldi (Turmeric Powder)
  • 1/2 tsp Black Pepper Powder
  • 1/2 tsp Garam Masala
  • 1/2 tsp Ginger Paste
  • 1/2 tsp Garlic Paste
  • For Frying
  • 2 Large Size Tomatoes Diced in pieces
  • 4 Large Size Onions
  • 2 Cups of Fresh Mint Leaves
  • For Garnishing
  • 1/2 cup of fresh Coriander Leaves
  • 2 tsp of Thick Cut Green Chilli


    To prepare Gravy

  1. First, thoroughly wash Beef Stripes with clean water.
  2. Place the pot on medium to high flame and add Olive Oil and Beef Stripes.
  3. Add Ginger Paste and Garlic Paste and roast the beef on Medium flame for 1 minute.
  4. Add all the other spices in any order: Salt, Chilli Powder, Chilli Flakes, Coriander Powder, Cumin Seeds, Garam Masala,
  5. Black pepper, Cumin Powder.
  6. Stir all the spices and beef well with a wooden spoon until aroma begins to rise.
  7. Pour 2 1/2 cups of Water in the pot and cover on low flame for another 40 minutes or until the beef tenders.
  8. While the Meat is cooking, cut Tomatoes, Onions and Mint, Coriander Leaves and Green Chilli. Keep checking the Beef until all the water evaporates.

    For Fry

  9. Once the water is dried, add tomatoes and stir for another 5 minutes on high flame
  10. Add Onions and Mint and stir for another 2 minutes.
  11. For garnishing, add Coriander leaves and Green Chilli on top and leave the pot covered for 2 minute on low flame.
  12. Serve the Tender Beef Pasanda with Steamed Rice and Soft Naan Bread for a homely weeknight.
  13. Add nutrition with Salad and squeeze Lemon on top for a Zesty evening!
